Champion Gardeners.

These are some hefty yields. Here is a recipe for my homemade organic, super-charged, bio-dynamic, fish and sea-weed fertilizer.

  1. Get two buckets or containers with lids.
  2. Fill one bucket half way full with seaweed. Kelp is best!
  3. Add straw or wood chips to the other bucket, about one quarter full. These will absorb the odours from the FISH, you will be adding.
  4. Let the two buckets stew independently for 2-3 days, stirring a few times.
  5. The seaweed will dissolve to a gooey mess quickly because there is no cellulose to slow the composting process. The fish will dissolve into the straw forming a thick paste. Now you mix the two buckets together and add water until 4 inches below the top of the bucket.
  6. Let this brew for 3-4 more days. Stir as often as possible, or aerate with an electric pump. If you keep it oxygenated more GOOD bacteria will grow and supercharge your tea.
  7. After step 6 your fertilizer will be ready to go. Just dilute it 4 to 1 with water. (4  parts water, one part tea) and apply to your vegetable, flower, or fruit garden. It can be sprayed directly on plants to speed absorption of nutrients or used as a root drench.
This is not rocket science. Just mix it all up and let it brew. You want the final product to smell sweet and rich, a good kind of rotten. Not like a sewer, that is bad rotten and occurs when there isn't enough OXYGEN. Happy gardening.
