I just found this old (1967) book on my bookshelf about predictions for the year 2000. It covers technological, political, social, and environmental changes that might occur between 1967 and the semi-near future of the year 2000. The year 2000 is now history, so reading the book now is like watching the new star wars prequel before the original with your own grandfather in a reverse time machine.
The book is weirdly accurate in many chapters. It is a little over-saturated with cold war mentality and spends a lot of time discussing potential post cold war scenarios. Some involve all out nuclear war, some do not.
The book basically predicts the creation of the internet and is very accurate with the technological predictions in general.
For Example: Lasers!
The formation of the European union, the introduction of the euro and the collapse of the US economy are also outlined in freaky detail. What's more interesting is the predictions about what will happen when the US starts to print more dollar bills and runs out of gold. You will have to read this book from 1967 or watch CNN to find out what happens. I won't reveal the secret future so easily.
